Born in Southland New Zealand in 1948, Lindsay spent seven years in Australia and a year in Ireland in the 1970’s before returning home to New Zealand in 1978.
He studied photography in Melbourne and worked subsequently in photography and photographic printing, setting up his own business in Napier, doing both professional and amateur photography.
Lindsay began painting in 2000 and in 2003 he moved to Marlborough.
Sell out exhibitions of his work have been held nationally, including galleries in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. His artwork hangs in many New Zealand and international collections.
Lindsay finds inspiration in many areas like the history present in rustic buildings or traces of man in the landscape. His chosen medium is oil painting on linen canvas.
“Different people relate to different paintings, but there is something of me in all of them.”
